RwandAir Economy Class Baggage Allowance

According to RwandAir's current baggage policy, the allowance for Economy Class may depend on your ticket fare. The 'Economy Lite' fare includes one checked bag weighing up to 23 kg. In contrast, 'Economy Saver', 'Classic', and 'Flex' fares include two checked bags, with a maximum weight of 23 kg per bag.

This means that if your ticket includes an allowance for two bags, you can carry up to 23 kg of luggage in each of the two separate bags. A single bag exceeding 23 kg is not accepted under the standard allowance; applicable excess or heavy baggage charges may apply.

RwandAir Cabin Baggage Allowance

Economy passengers are permitted one cabin bag. It has a maximum weight of 10 kg and standard maximum dimensions of 55 × 38 × 20 cm. Therefore, both weight and size should be considered when preparing hand luggage.

What are the extra baggage charges for RwandAir from the UK?

If you are flying with RwandAir from London and wish to carry an additional checked bag beyond the allowance included in your ticket, the charge for an extra 23 kg piece is £220—according to RwandAir's published table—when the destination falls under the East Africa, West Africa, Central Africa, Southern Africa, Europe, or London category.

What if the bag exceeds 23 kg?

If a checked bag weighs more than 23 kg but does not exceed 32 kg, RwandAir’s published heavy-weight charge for journeys originating from London is £86 across several destination categories. The listed charge is £90 for the Middle East and Asia, and £99 for the USA and the rest of the world.

Therefore, when packing, try to keep the weight of each standard checked bag around 23 kg. This can help you avoid unexpected charges at the airport.

How can you purchase extra baggage in advance?

According to RwandAir’s additional baggage policy, passengers can purchase extra baggage at the time of booking. Additional baggage can also be purchased after booking—up to four hours before departure—provided the passenger has not yet checked in at the airport. Extra baggage can also be purchased at the airport check-in counter.

Please note that purchased additional baggage is generally non-refundable and non-transferable. Therefore, it is important to carefully verify your route and baggage requirements before making the payment.
